TORONTO (AP) — Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward was placed on the 10-day injured list with facial fractures on Sunday, a day after he was hit by a 91 mph pitch from Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah.Ward was taken to a Toronto hospital after being struck in the fifth inning of Saturday’s 6-1 loss. He was released from the hospital Saturday evening.To replace Ward, the Angels selected the contract of infielder Kevin Padlo from Triple-A Salt Lake.Batting with the bases loaded, Ward was hit by a 2-0 pitch from Manoah. The ball appeared to strike Ward next to his next left eye, knocking off his batting helmet.Plate umpire Andy Fletcher motioned to the Angels’ dugout for the trainer as Ward went down, blood running down his face. OAKLAND — Two women were shot Saturday night as they were driving in East Oakland, authorities said.A third woman in the vehicle was not hurt.The women were in a car driving westbound in the 9000 block of Edes Avenue about 9:55 p.m. Saturday when they were shot at by at least one occupant of another car, police said.The women were able to drive a short distance to the 9100 block of Date Street where their car crashed.The two wounded women, a 35-year-old Castro Valley resident and a 34-year-old Oakland resident, were taken to a hospital where they were in stable condition, authorities said.It was not clear which of the three women was driving the car.The vehicle the suspects were believed to have been in was recovered in the area but the occupants fled before police got to the scene.A motive for the shooting is under investigation.Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. (KRON) -- One woman is dead and another is injured after a violent stabbing in Redwood City on Sunday, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office announced. 3.6 earthquake strikes north of Morgan Hill Deputies responded to a distress call on the 3200 block of Fair Oaks Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Outside of the residence, deputies found a man visibly covered in blood. He was quickly apprehended.As deputies made their way into the home, they found two women with multiple stab wounds. Deputies aided the woman and arranged for both to be transferred to Stanford Medical Center. One of the women died. Jose Uriarte-Martinez was identified as the suspect in the incident, and he is in custody. Uriarte-Martinez is being held at the Maguire Correctional Facility without the option of bail. DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver Police investigated a fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 70 at Central Park Boulevard.DPD said early Sunday morning the crash was on eastbound I-70.A driver struck a parked vehicle on the side of the road.
