Hit-and-run driver strikes fire hydrant, floods street in Porter Ranch  Police in Porter Ranch are searching for the driver who hit a fire hydrant and fled the scene early Saturday morning. Authorities responded to the intersection of Tampa and Wilbur Avenues around 1:30 a.m. to find water spraying high in the air and a wrecked, abandoned Dodge pickup truck sitting next to the hydrant. Police in Porter Ranch are searching for the driver who hit a fire hydrant and fled the scene early Saturday morning. (KTLA) At least 1 injured in fiery rollover crash in Compton The truck sheared off the hydrant, which caused a large geyser and flooded the street with several inches of water.  It took crews 15 minutes to stop the water flow. No suspect information has been released.

National Weather Service issues rip current warning, US Coast Guard patrols ahead of July 4 (KRON) – The Bay Area is expected to see a hot weekend which means a shift to the outdoors for many ahead of the July 4 holiday. The US Coast Guard will be conducting “Operation Dry Water” patrols which is a nationwide effort to enforce boating under the influence while inspecting the safety of boating equipment. Last year’s operation resulted in almost 12,000 citations and 794 BUIs.  2 dead in collision on Highway 4 in Pittsburg Penalties for a BUI include large fines, suspension of boat operation privileges and jail time. The National Weather Service has issued a warning on possible rip currents at the beach this weekend. California man sentenced to over 6 years in prison for $8.7 million cow manure Ponzi scheme, US attorney’s office says (CNN) — A man from California who ran a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme where he claimed to turn cow manure into green energy has been sentenced to over six years in prison, the US attorney’s office for the Eastern District of California announced this week.Ray Brewer, 66, stole over $8.7 million from investors, court records from between March 2014 and December 2019 showed.Brewer’s scam involved convincing investors he could build anaerobic digesters – large machines that create methane through microorganisms breaking down biodegradable material – on dairies in several California and Idaho counties, the US attorney’s office said in a news release.
