San Jose City Hall will be lowrider central to celebrate anniversary The last “No Cruising” sign was removed from in front of San Jose City Hall one year ago by former Councilmember Raul Peralez, bringing a symbolic end to the decades-long ban. At the time, lowriders and other customized classic cars filled city hall’s plaza as car clubs celebrated the historic moment.And, they are doing it again.Look for more than 300 of those cars to be back on the plaza Friday for the first San Jose Lowrider Day, as more than 60 car clubs join Councilmembers Omar Torres and Peter Ortiz and Mayor Matt Mahan and United Lowrider Council President David Polcano to celebrate the anniversary. Mpox cases increase among SF residents: officials SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- There has been an increase in mpox cases among San Francisco residents, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) announced this week in a press release. Officials reported seven mpox cases in the last five weeks. That averages out to one case per month from January to June of 2023. Canada warns residents visiting US about anti-LGBTQ laws However, officials said this number is lower than compared to 2022. At one point in September 2022, there were over 23,000 cases statewide in California. More than 700 of those cases were reported in San Francisco.Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox, is a disease related to smallpox but is thought to be less severe. Symptoms of the illness include fever, body aches, chills, and fatigue. SFDPH recommends the "safe and effective" JYNNEOS mpox vaccine, which is a two-dose vaccination. Teens cited in replica gun incident at Mountain View Safeway (KRON) -- Two teenagers were cited and released Wednesday after allegedly threatening people with a realistic looking replica handgun, according to the Mountain View Police Department. Mountain View PD dispatch got a call just before 9 p.m. from a 29-year-old Davis resident who said he and his friend were approached by three teens.Two of the teens, according to police, attacked and threatened the men with a handgun. The suspects then walked toward a nearby Safeway. Oakland police ask for public's help in finding missing 76-year-old man (BCN) -- Oakland police on Thursday asked for the public's help in finding a 76-year-old man who has been reported missing.Kehchung Tou was last seen around 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of Midvale Avenue and was driving a black 2022 Toyota Highlander with California license plate number 9AON160, police said. Air quality advisory issued through Thursday due to wildfire smoke Tou is described as a Chinese man standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds and has gray and black hair, brown eyes and no facial hair.
