Signs of mysterious respiratory illness affecting dogs reported from California to New Hampshire

By Chris Boyette | CNNAn infectious respiratory disease among dogs that continues to baffle veterinarians has now been reported in at least a dozen US states, from Washington, Oregon and California to New Hampshire, Florida and Pennsylvania.David B. A man has died after crashing into a parked car while suffering from gunshot wounds Tuesday night in Kensington, Maryland, according to Montgomery County police.Officers were sent to a reported car crash in the 3600 block of Spruell Drive at 9:40 p.m. A sedan had crashed into a parked car, and neighbors pulled the driver from the vehicle to attempt CPR before emergency services arrived, police told WTOP.EMS crews found apparent gunshot wounds on the driver and called for police.The driver died at the scene and was transported to a medical examiner for an autopsy.Police have not released the name of the deceased nor a cause of death.The incident remains an ongoing investigation, and officials say they will release more information when it is available.A map with the approximate location of the incident is below. HILLSBORO, Ohio (AP) — An explosion at an auto repair shop in Ohio that killed three people and sent a fourth person to a hospital sparked a massive fire that burned for hours and spewed thick, black smoke into the air.The Tuesday afternoon blast at Jimbo’s Auto Repair in Hillsboro was felt at several nearby sites, including the Paint Creek Joint EMS & Fire District, whose crews quickly responded to the scene. The heavy smoke was visible miles away.Information about the three people who died was not immediately released by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. The injured person remained hospitalized Wednesday in stable condition.The fire burned for several hours before it was extinguished around midnight. WARSAW, Poland (AP) — A teenage student attacked classmates with a knife at a high school in northeastern Poland and injured three of them on Wednesday, police said. The attack took place during lessons at the high school in the town of Kadzidlo, local police spokeswoman Katarzyna Kucharska said. Two of the teenage victims — one female and one male — were hospitalized in serious condition, and the other one was treated on the spot, Kucharska said. TOKYO (AP) — A crew member who was recovered from the ocean after a U.S. military Osprey aircraft carrying eight people crashed Wednesday off southern Japan has been pronounced dead, coast guard officials said.The cause of the crash and the status of the seven others on board were not immediately known, coast guard spokesperson Kazuo Ogawa said. The Osprey was carrying eight crew and is an Air Force aircraft, a U.S. official who was not authorized to speak to the media said on condition of anonymity. While the Marine Corps flies most of the Osprey aircraft that are based in Japan, the Air Force also has Ospreys deployed there.Earlier reports had said the aircraft was carrying six or eight people.
